Sunday’s Ashe ville Citizen had a front page pic ture of the North Carolina dele gation to the Democratic Nation al Convention and Polk County’s delegate was among the front row with Governor Scott in the center. The group stopped over in Ashe ville long enough to meet others ^om various sections of the state. 5#l)ngressman Bob Doughton was ‘Elected National Committeeman succeeding Jonathan Daniels and Mrs. B. Mrs. Peter Mahler of Trvon won the first flight chamr>ionshit> last week at the Lin ville Women’s Golf tournament. . . President Nelson Jackson of the Piedmont Boy Scout Council re ported at the anuual camp meet ing Sunday at the Council Camp that the meeting was one of the finest in the history of the organ ization. Melville Powell, sanitarian of the Polk County Hean.i Department will be the speaker. Mr. Powell will discuss some of the duties, responsibili ties, and services of the Health Department. Lion Oliver Taylor will give a report of his trip to Mexico City where he attended the Lions In ternational Convention. KIWANIS TUESDAY Tryon Kiwanis Club will meet Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall hotel. The program will be in charge of Edward R. Goodyear.
